What does " Error in MICR" mean?
Clients with check readers may encounter this message. The error is due to the check reader's inability to read the bank information at the bottom of the check. Try running the check again paying particular attention to the placement of the check in the reader. If you encounter this message often, please call for instructions on how to service the reader.
What does "Lost Comm W/Host" mean?
This error is generally associated with static on the phone lines. The terminal was able to establish a connection with the central database but the connection was terminated due to the inability to transmit data reliably. Press "CLEAR" and try the transaction again. If the problem persists check the quality of the phone line in the store. This can be done by your local phone company's repair service. This is usually a free service.
How do I Enter letters from my terminal keypad?
You may have to occasionally enter a state code or a letter as part of the driver's license number. All Verifone Terminals have letters listed on the numbers of the keypad. To enter a letter, press the desired letter key, then press the ALPHA key (located just above the ENTER key) to scroll across the three letters. For example, to enter the letters "C", "A", (e.g. the state code for California) press the 2 key, then press ALPHA three times; press the 2 key, then press ALPHA twice.
The date and time on my machine are incorrect. How can I change them?
Hold down the asterisk key located below the number 7. While holding down the asterisk key, press 3. Unit will display DIAGNOSTICS. Press the ALPHA key. Unit will display RTC TEST
and then SET DATE .
1. Enter the day of the week: Mon=1, Tues=2, Wed=3, etc.
2. Enter 2 digits for the year
3. Enter the correct month, day, hour, minute, and second.
Unit is displaying "Programming Error"
Press the 5 and 3 key simultaneously until the error clears. This will generally restore the use of the terminal. However, Tech Support needs to be contacted to insure proper programming.
Unit is displaying "Waiting for line"
The point of sale terminal is probably not receiving a dial tone from the phone line.
1. Check to see no one else is using the line (fax machine, modem, another extension)
2. Connect a single-line phone to the phone line to determine if the line is working properly.
3. If no dial tone is detected, a phone technician may be required.
4. If you receive a dial tone, and the line is still not working contact Tech Support.
Unit responds with " Scroll for ___"Verifone TRANZ 330, ZON JR XL and XL 300
Some messages are longer than the 16 characters of the display. When such messages appear, use the "#" key to scroll right, and the asterisk key to scroll left.
ZON JR PLUS
On the ZON JR PLUS, the scroll keys are the "9" for scroll right, and the " 7" key to scroll left.
