Frequently Asked Questions from Debtors:

Does VeriChek take credit card payments?

Short answer:  Usually.  However, there is a small fee that must be added when doing so.  Most of the principal (many times, ALL of the principal) goes to the creditor.  Because WE have to pay a percentage to the card companies when we accept payment, we pass that charge along to... you.  Of course, you can always pay with a cashier's check, money order, or we can ACH the amount from your account - all options that don't cost ANYthing extra!

Can I pay for this online?

We're sorry, but no.  We may add that capability at some point, but if you want to pay with some sort of electronic payment, you'll have to call us.

Has this been reported to the credit bureaus?  If so, when can it be cleared?

We generally do NOT report the debt to the credit bureau for 60 days.  If your debt has been reported, the files are updated around the 10th of each month.  If that's not quick enough to help you with a creditor, contact us and we will be glad to write a letter to any creditor you request informing them that the debt has been paid and the bureau update is pending.

Oh!  And if you pay (or paid) within 60 days, it NEVER gets reported.

Can I make payments on a debt?

Sure!  Well... with the exception of checks (see next paragraph).  The easiest way is to let us know how much and how often to draft your account.  There is no charge for us to set this up - we just need your permission.

Checks:  In most states, a returned check is a criminal offense, and must be paid in full.  That doesn't mean you have to pay the entire balance of multiple checks - just each individual check must be paid in one sum.  If you have multiple checks, we can still set up a reasonable payment plan.  But keep in mind that the payments will likely be differing amounts based on the amount of each check.  Confused?  Just call us and we'll work it out!
